The mortgage complaint leaderboard: which companies New Jersey borrowers complain about most

Most mortgage complaints aren't about getting a loan — they're about servicing. These companies drew the most complaints from New Jersey borrowers.

Getting approved is only half the story. Once your loan closes, you deal with whoever services it — and that’s where most complaints come from. Of the mortgage complaints New Jersey consumers filed with the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau since 2022, the large majority are about servicing: payment processing, escrow, and struggling to stay current — not about getting a loan in the first place.

That’s an important distinction: the company that originates your mortgage is often not the one that services it, and complaint volume partly tracks how many loans a company services. With that caveat, here are the companies New Jersey borrowers complained about most:
